If you look after a family member, friend, or neighbor on a voluntary basis – but are not paid for this service, then you are a carer and we would like to let you know that we can help you.
Every winter we will offer you a free Flu vaccine, this helps you to stay as well as possible throughout the winter.
We will offer you an annual health check to make sure we look after your health to the best of our ability.
We will help you to order your prescriptions, or your ‘cared for’ persons prescriptions and liaise with the pharmacy of your choice to make things easier for you.
We will provide information that can help you to look after you and you cared for with the support of Wigan & Leigh Carers Centre (WLCC)
WLCC can help you with all sorts of things that cause you worry or difficulty, e.g. sorting out financial problems, access to other services, training and lots more.

YOUNG CARERS
If you are a young person, between 10 and 18 years old, or you know someone in that age group, who looks after a parent, sibling, extended family member or close friend you may be a Young Carer.
The Family Medical Practice would like to encourage all our Young Carers to call in at the practice, ask to speak to our dedicated member of staff for Young Carers and see what we can help you with. We can offer an informal chat to show you what is on offer for Young Carers in the practice and in the borough. We will offer a health check and advice on any health related issues you may have. We can put you in touch with Wigan & Leigh Young Carers Project where you can get good support, meet other people in similar situations and even get involved in fun activities.
