The NHS offers smears (CERVICAL CYTOLOGY) to female patients from the age of 25 years to 64 years inclusive:

| under 25 | up to 6 months before you turn 25 |
| 25 to 49 | every 3 years |
| 50 to 64 | every 5 years |
| 65 or older | only if 1 of your last 3 tests was abnormal |
The practice has appointments with the Practice Nurse during the week and these can be booked by contacting the surgery on 01942 481638.

If you need a cervical smear but can’t attend on a weekday please note that you can also book at the weekends:
Wigan GP Alliance provide cytology appointments every weekend from 10:00 – 16:00.
The sessions are held at either Ashton Medical Practice or Pennygate Medical Centre, Hindley.
